The Ford 352 V8 was first introduced in 1958 and would stay in the Ford lineup up through 1966. The 352 also was part a long-running series (1958-1976) of Ford engines known as the “FE” which means Ford-Edsel. For 1958, the 352 would be the only engine used in the second generation Thunderbird until the Ford 430 made its appearance a year later.
By 1959 the 352 would be used in most of the Ford lineup including the Galaxie 500 and the Fairlane 500. The 352 is often referred to as the Interceptor which was a name that Ford gave the engine model. Many people claim that an Interceptor engine was a high-performance model that was used by police while others claim that this model was nothing more than a base 352 engine with a 2 barrel carburetor.
