Ford 260 Windsor V8

The Ford 260 Windsor was placed in Ford models such as the Falcon and the Mercury Comet beginning in mid-1962. The 260 is a slight modification of the Ford 221 Windsor with more compression and bore than the 221, thereby increasing horsepower and torque.

The 260 Windsor was standardized in most full-size Ford sedans in 1963 and was even featured in early models of the legendary 1964 Ford Mustang. Special editions of the Ford Falcon, Mercury Comet, and AC Cobra cars with the 260 engine could reach 260 horsepower at 5800 rpm and a torque of 269 at 4800 rpm.

Production of the 260 ended by 1964 as Ford introduced the Ford 289 V8.
